Upgrading the Fleet: Welcoming the New 40 HP Massey Ferguson

The day has finally arrived—my shiny new red tractor is officially here, and it is ready to get to work.

When I first started preparing to launch Paul Grinold Site Services, LLC, I purchased a 22.5 HP tractor. It was perfect for maintaining my own property, but as reality set in, I quickly realized it simply wasn't going to be big enough to deliver the efficiency and power my clients deserve. The little tractor could grade a driveway, but with only a 48-inch grading blade and a lighter footprint, it was a slow process. It quickly ran out of power when moving serious dirt, which meant sacrificing the efficiency I strive for.

I prioritize precision, but I also need the mechanical muscle to back it up. So, this spring, I started looking for a larger machine. I needed something with the size and power to perform heavy work efficiently, but not so massive that it would be a logistical nightmare to transport to residential job sites. After looking at all the major brands, I landed on getting another Massey Ferguson.

Why the 40 HP Premium Massey Ferguson?

I opted for a 40 HP hydrostatic model in their premium line with an open cab. I went with the premium tier because it features a much more robust frame, boasts a stronger lifting capacity, and is larger overall compared to their standard lineup.

The beauty of this new machine is that it allows me to seamlessly utilize my existing attachments, like my pallet forks and rock bucket. I also acquired a 6-foot box blade for grading—because attaching the old 4-foot blade to the new big tractor would have looked downright clownish!

What This Means for Your Property

Now that the new tractor is on the ground, what kind of projects am I tackling? Right out of the gate, I am taking on larger, more demanding driveway restorations. The new 6-foot box blade is large enough to efficiently restor longer driveways, and the additional horsepower makes it possible to grade on steeper slopes without bogging down.

Additionally, I plan on ordering a front grapple soon to further expand my land clearing capabilities. Whether you need your driveway brought back to life or a site meticulously prepped, this new equipment ensures the job gets done efficiently and correctly.
